Just learned from Carlos Celdran’s blog that the Department of Tourism launched an exciting training module and job opportunity for young Filipino college graduates who are proficient in foreign languages.
The Mabuhay Guides training program will only accommodate up to 30 participants chosen by DOT. The intensive four week course will cover:
- liberal arts
- personality development
- first aid training
- protocular training
- tour guide training - handled by a training consultant from London
- field exposure/practicum
Aside from the training and experience from field observation, each chosen participant gets a P5,000 allowance for each chosen, certificates and best of all, guaranteed employment as Mabuhay Guides under the Department of Tourism. This is no small potatoes either as each Mabuhay Guide could earn P4,000 to P5,000 a day.
